Biography
Dr. Kwiatkowski earned his PhD in mathematics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1975 and his MD from Columbia University in 1979. He trained in medicine and hematology-oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital. In 1991, he joined DFCI and Brigham and Women's Hospital, where he has been active in the Thoracic Oncology Program since its inception. He also directs the BWH DNA Sequencing Core Facility and the Partners Genotyping Facility. He is a member of the Mammalian Genetics Study Section, National Institutes of Health; chair of the Scientific Advisory Board, National Tuberous Sclerosis Association; and is a member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation and Association of American Physicians. His research interests in genetics include determinants of risk for lung cancer in young patients, the molecular pathogenesis of tuberous sclerosis, and the importance of actin-based cell motility in cancer metastasis.
